I have personally brewed hundreds of these baths and settled moms and newborns in to relax, heal and bond. For decades mothers have looked me in the eye and sighed with relief and comfort as they have used this herbal bath to
Soothe their bruised and swollen tissues
Reduce the sting and swelling of hemorrhoids
Bring comfort after the catheter and IVs are removed
Ease painful urination after a long labor
Soak off epidural tape residue
Bring rapid relief to nipples sore from breastfeeding
Relax into a pleasant, wonderfully aromatic bath for self-care
And for the baby
Have their first bath, with their mother
Rapidly heal the cord site
Ease pain and promote healing after a circumcision or bris
Indigo Forestβs properly prepared herbal bath combines potent ingredients and careful directions for safe healing in situations in which you should otherwise not be soaking in water; such as after vaginal or cesarean birth.
βIβve honed this recipe over years of mother/baby care to go above and beyond - knitting mothers back together at every level.
Each of these organic ingredients were thoughtfully selected for their healing properties and highly effective potency. We source only the best quality and package quickly and in air-tight containers.

Calendulaβs botanical name is Calendula officinalis. It has been called a βSkin Superstarβ with a reputation for speeding wound healing and minimize scarring from Rashes, bites, stings, burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises, rashes, and acne, which all typically respond well to calendula. This member of the marigold family helps to reduce pain and swelling by bringing down the inflammation of an irritation or injury; its antimicrobial properties help to prevent infection as the wound heals. It's an astringent, which, for instance, helps to dry up the newborn cord site. Calendula is used for sunburns, radiation burns, and thermal burns, and combines synergistically with comfrey for accelerated wound healing.

Comfrey has been called the King of healing plants and is second to none to speed up and insure the proper healing of wounds. Itβs botanical name, Symphytum officinale, means βto grow togetherβ, reflecting its ability to reconnect wounded flesh and broken bones.

Lavandula x intermedia is the botanical name of the distinctive, fragrant, purple flowers of Lavender. This beautiful herb has over 2500 years of recorded use as a gentle tonic to strengthen the nervous system. It is used to treat states of depression, exhaustion, anxiety and irritability, and to promote natural sleep. Lavender is specifically indicated for βdepressive states associated with digestive dysfunctionβ, which includes depressive headaches and colic. Along with its aromatherapy benefits, Lavender brings antimicrobial and antiviral properties to the healing nature of the traditional herbal bath.

Salt is an essential ingredient for its antimicrobial properties, reducing the risk of infection by altering the permeability of bacteriaβs cell walls.
Irritated, dry and scaly skin are eased with salt baths, while also relieving soreness and pain. The warm salty water is considered invaluable home treatment for hemorrhoids and anal fissures. These highly absorptive minerals boost our resistance to illness and disease. Indigo baths currently use Himalayan salt.

Symphytum officinale, known as Comfrey, has been found throughout recorded history as a healing plant as far back as 400 BC. It has long been used for a diverse range of injuries and accidents, and especially to stop bleeding and help heal broken bones. Comfrey leaves and roots synergistically share similar medicinal qualities, while roots tend to concentrate certain properties.
Comfreyβs combination of soothing mucilage and wound-healing allantoin make it an excellent treatment for ulceration, and for knitting skin back together. Allantoin is used in many skin products to hydrate and soothe skin because its anti-irritant properties.

βI have used Indigo Forest's herbal baths in my medical practice, WomanSafeHealth, for over 15 years to promote and speed tissue healing and reduce pain dramatically after gynecological procedures and perineal repairs after childbirth, as well as on other biopsy sites, open wounds, breast infections and where cancer has grown. The baths are uniformly healing, safe, lesson pain and can be applied in liquid form or as a compress or a poultice. I usually advise adding fresh garlic to improve immunity and decrease infection. They are also wonderful just to relax in after a long day.
